JIUSHIN KAN
JIU-JITSU
THE COMPLETE ART OF JIU-JITSU
A Complete Jiu-Jitsu System Encompassing Both Grappling and Striking Training
With extensive experience in both old-school and modern jiu-jitsu, and black belt rankings in multiple jiu-jitsu styles, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), the Bajada brothers have remained dedicated to pursuing the essence of the art.
Inspired by the Past, Shaped for the Present
Historically, the old jiu-jitsu schools (koryu) were not confined by rigid stylistic boundaries. Instead, they made use of the most effective methods and techniques available to them, based on the realities of their time and environment. In essence, they were mixed martial arts and comprehensive combat systems. This same principle lies at the heart of Jiushin Kan Jiu-Jitsu.
The Three Main Components
Ground Grappling – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
Stand-up Grappling – Judo/Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling
Striking – Kickboxing and Thai Boxing
Training Philosophy
Separate sessions are held for grappling, striking, and integrated striking–grappling. For those who wish to focus exclusively on grappling (BJJ) without striking, this option is fully supported, with ranking and certification for both the full Jiushin Kan system and BJJ-only trainees.
Jiushin Kan Jiu-Jitsu incorporates both gi (dogi, the traditional uniform) and no-gi training. While it includes gi grappling sessions with an emphasis on methods and techniques that utilize the gi, overall it is more oriented toward no-gi methodology. It does not rely heavily on the gi, ensuring practical real-world applicability.
An official curriculum, developed through rigorous study, provides a strong foundation while remaining open to evolving methods, techniques, and continued progression.
Randori (Sparring/Rolling)
The importance of sparring is emphasized to develop the mindset and technical proficiency required to apply techniques effectively against fully resisting opponents, all within a safe and controlled environment. The system has been tested and validated in professional MMA (mixed martial arts) competition.
Self-Defence Programme
For those seeking focused personal protection skills, a separate self-defence programme based on traditional jiu-jitsu principles is offered, complete with its own syllabus and certification.
Modern Practice, Classical Roots
Jiushin Kan Jiu-Jitsu is a contemporary jiu-jitsu system that evolves with the times, yet remains rooted in budo (martial arts) values and etiquette. It was named Jiushin Kan in Japan, along with the brothers’ dojo, by senior DNBK officials — a name meaning “hall of the true ideals of jiu-jitsu”.
